Let’s walk through wireframes and sprint to release. Find “aha” insights from real humans. It’s where the real work starts. Build. Test. Learn. Ship the ideas that people want to use and share.
Designing from human insights—turning research and behaviors into useful, delightful experiences.
Mapping complex flows across products, teams, and channels—connecting dots others might miss.
Welcoming challenges with curiosity and responding with bold near-term and far-future ideas.
Making ideas more tangible through sketches, mockups, code, or demos that invite feedback early.
Contracted with select agency teams and client partners across healthcare, cloud/software services, real estate and transportation projects. Names withheld, NDAs honored, etc.
Worked in their creative department to deliver design/dev services, balancing the demands of shifting priorities through phased requirements. Helped teammates find focus amid the mayhem of multiple accounts, i.e. overlapping production, media, strategy cycles... Jumped into sprints to code, maintain, and conduct QA where needed and with proactive support for each project. Always grateful for a good experience (if loyal to a fault), and happier to outgrow it with more friends and work as a result.
Known for throwing a wildcard idea into a pitch deck to see if people leaned in (they usually did), I pushed non-traditional tactics and spec work that could attract clients, open new lines of business and drive campaign concepts forward. I launched an internal skunkworks initiative (which sounds serious but was rather informal and mostly fun) to cultivate a working curiosity for creative tech and help raise the agency profile among our peers, press and awards juries who dig side projects. Well, the holiday card won some awards. I also silenced Slack/Teams from time to time to participate on industry panels and advisory council meetings.
Designed mobile experiences and user flows for Capital One, launching apps for both iOS & Android while incorporating product feedback through user testing cycles. Occasionally snuck into C1 Labs workshops, design jams, and hackathons, really any excuse to nerd out and learn from savvy customers and smart product people.
Reconnected with my former boss to join Sonatype's noble (and slightly uphill) quest to secure the open source software supply chain. My job involved translating complex DevOps needs into clear UI, so engineers could move quickly and confidently, even though cybersecurity still makes me sweat.
Learned that PR is called "strategic communications" which turned out to be less about lobbying and more like Mad Men meets Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. Built sites. Met heroes. Launched campaigns. Greased the gears between gov, grassroots and global orgs to get matters moving. Acronyms were involved. Great office parties.
Got to work on Volkswagen, Delta, LucasArts... the kind of creative briefs that make you think past the assignment. I left to finish school and returned from this internship more focused on the future.
We turned dozens of print pubs into digital platforms before broadband was common. Our tight crew used early agile sprints to ship code—and pull a few epic pranks.
